PRACTICAL ADVICE |
|
It is highly recommended that
the reverse side of the overhangs of the roof are rinsed
regularly with fresh water. This part of the roof will
accumulate dirt, which will not be reached and washed
off by rainwater.

Aluminium is a very active metal, meaning that its
nature is to oxidize very quickly. Whilst this is
a weakness for most metals, this quality is actually
the key to its ability to resist corrosion. When
oxygen is present (in the air or in water), aluminium
instantly reacts to form aluminium oxide. This aluminium
oxide layer is chemically bound to the surface,
and seals the core aluminium from any further reaction.
This is quite different from oxidation (corrosion)
in steel, where rust puffs up and flakes off, constantly
exposing new metal to corrosion. |
